India’s gold and silver smiths are famous for their intricate creations, sometimes embedded with locally availabe semi-precious stones. Jaipur, in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, has been the hub of these craftspeople. The skills have been passed down over generations.
Mukesh Agarwal, a young Jaipur entrepreneur and some few jewellers from his community work formed Kshitij Jewels And Crafts. They produce a range of earrings, necklaces, pendants using silver and semi-precious stones. CRC works closely with them to create contemporary designs. For some designs they use mould, others are entirely handcrafted.
