A technique of Chinese origin, mastered by Indian printers, the craft uses photographic methods to create designs on a very fine meshed nylon fabric. This is mounted on a frame and treated so that certain areas are colour or ink-blocked. When the colours are applied they only permeate permitted areas, creating intricate patterns on the textile.
Umesh Chandra Swain, a highly skilled dye master started Gopal Creations as a screen printing unit under CRC’s mentorship. Swain’s pursuit of perfection in printing and with use of colours makes him much sought after amongst our buyers.
